Wednesday, July 31, we drove out of Denali…hoped for a last look at the South Viewpoint going south on the Parks Highway but only a partial view here from 40 miles
After Wasilla, Sarah Palin’s hometown, the highway becomes 4 lanes divided then 6 lanes divided about 10 miles from Anchorage. We went through there about 2:30 PM and traffic was not any problem. However, half the people in Alaska live in Anchorage so there is a lot more traffic than we have had so far…
Once through Anchorage you very quickly find yourself on a two lane highway that winds around Turnagain Arm….a very good name….the traffic was thick and the views were gorgeous
The drive to Seward goes around the Arm then you enter The Kenai Peninsula….Alaska’s Playground. More high mountain passes and glaciers….you need to pay attention to driving but it’s hard to do
We had heard about the campground at Seward from two couples at our campground near Denali…the City of Seward has developed 441 campsites right on Resurrection Bay….there is no way to describe it…….this is our view
Walked to a fantastic seafood restaurant for dinner and on the way bought tickets for a cruise into Kenai-Fjords National Park….
